Smoothie Bowls 101: Açaí, Pitaya and the Perfect Toppings

Smoothie Bowls 101: Açaí, Pitaya and the Perfect Toppings

A smoothie bowl is a thick, spoonable smoothie served in a bowl and topped with fresh fruit, granola, seeds and coconut. It’s colorful, refreshing and a perfect tropical breakfast or post-surf meal.

Açaí bowls

Açaí is a deep-purple berry from the Amazon, rich and slightly chocolatey. Our Jeffrey’s Bay blends banana, açaí and strawberry, topped with strawberry, banana, kiwi, granola and coconut. The new Sunset Reef adds blackberry and oats.

Pitaya (dragon fruit) bowls

Pitaya gives a bright pink bowl with a light, sweet flavor. Try Pipeline (pineapple, mango, pitaya and honey) or Uluwatu (pitaya, yogurt, banana and honey).

Green bowls

Want greens before noon? The Mundaka Bowl blends spinach, avocado, apple, banana, dates and honey; Snappers Rock uses pineapple, banana, spinach and almond milk.

Tropical bowls

Mavericks brings pineapple, mango, ginger and papaya; Rocky Point is mango, mandarin and passion fruit; Skeleton Bay mixes banana, mango, peach, passion fruit, hemp seeds and almond milk.

Topping tips

  • Granola adds crunch and keeps you full longer.
  • Chia and hemp seeds add fiber and protein.
  • Coconut and almond bring healthy fats.
